SUSTech Yidan Library unveiled

On December 17, SUSTech Yidan Library was unveiled, with the donators, main founder of Tencent and CHEN YIDAN FOUNDATION in Shenzhen Yidan CHEN, SUSTech University Council Chairperson Yurong GUO, SUSTech former president Shiyi CHEN, other senior leaders and representatives of Shenzhen University Library, University Town Library of Shenzhen, Shenzhen MSU-BIT University Library and other libraries attended the unveiling ceremony.

SUSTech students recited the poem “University” with full emotion, which opened the ceremony.

Shiyi CHEN brought participants back through the development of SUSTech in the past decade. With such a short time, it has explored a brand-new way toward the world first-class research university and an innovative model of talent cultivation. The rapid progress of the University is inseparable from the strong support of all walks of life. He expressed great gratitude to Yidan CHEN for his donation to the library and hoped that as all SUSTech students and faculty members make good use of resources in the library for cultural communication, academic pursuit, and all-round growth.

Yidan CHEN said that SUSTech is a young university but with the most potential and vigor in the city. The past ten-year development earned the University confidence in education from the whole society. He believed that the library is the best place for talent cultivation and suggested the library provide different services for students for life-long learning and inclusive learning.

Curator of Yidan Library Henian E extended gratitude to the donors. He emphasized the value by quoting a poem to describe the library as a tranquil and peaceful place to him.. He hoped that the service of the library could help students to achieve success in their studies and help teachers to obtain fruitful scientific research results.

After the ceremony, participants were led through the library. Yidan Library is the second phase of the campus building, with an area of 9010 square meters and a four-storey structure. It is located at the core of the campus and is a landmark building of the University.
