Personal Profile

Dr. Yongfeng Ma received his Batchelor’s degree in Atmospheric Science at the Ocean University of China in 2006, the Master’s degree at the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences in 2009, and the Ph.D. in Meteorology at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2013. He became then an Assistant Researcher at the National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center (Beijing) from Jul. 2013 to May 2015, and after that he moved to the Institute of Geophysics at the University of Warsaw as a Research Assistant Professor from May 2015 to May 2018. From Sep. 2018 to Sep. 2019, he worked as a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hong Kong. He joined in the Department of Mechanics & Aerospace Engineering at the Southern University of Science and Technology from Mar. 2020. He participated in several field measurement campaigns, including two Arctic (Arctic Ocean) scientific investigations. His main research covers the atmospheric turbulence study, modeling and parameterizations of the atmospheric boundary layer, large-eddy simulation of the turbulence in the marine boundary clouds, the polar meteorology, land-/sea-/ice-atmosphere interaction, urban ventilation and reactive pollutants dispersion, as well as scaling and nonlinear processes of turbulence.
