Liang Guo received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, from Tsinghua University in 2009. He conducted graduate research on nanoscale heat transfer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Purdue University. His projects included heat transfer across metal-dielectric interfaces, wavelength tuning effect in time-domain thermoreflectance for measuring thermal properties, and phonon dynamics in thermoelectric materials. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in September 2014. From October 2014 to July 2017, as a postdoctoral researcher, he utilized femtosecond two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy (2DES) to study energy transfer in novel two-dimensional semiconductors in chemistry, University of California, Berkeley.
He joined the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology in January 2018. He is focusing on energy transfer in micro- and nano-scale, femtosecond laser manufacture, and energy carrier dynamics based on ultrafast spectroscopy. He published more than 50 SCI-listed articles in world-renowned journals, including Nature Physics, Science Advances, Nano Letters, Advanced Materials, Physical Review B, Applied Physics Letters, ACS Photonics, Journal of Heat Transfer, etc. He manages 2 grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 2 grants from the Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, 2 grants from the Characteristic Innovation Project of the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, 2 grants from Shenzhen Basic Research Projects, 1 grant from Shenzhen Science and Technology Project. He is involved in 1 grant from the National Natural Science Foundation of China,1 grant from China’s Ministry of Science and Technology, 1 grant from Key Laboratory of Ordinary Universities in Guangdong Province, 1 grant from the Shenzhen Engineering Research Center Project, 1 grant from the Shenzhen Science and Technology Program. He has applied for 8 national invention patents (authorized 3), and obtained 2 software copyrights. He also receives (Level C) high-caliber personnel financial support from Shenzhen Science and Technology Program. He teaches undergraduate course “Fundamentals of Energy Engineering”, “Introduction to Energy Science” and graduate course “Advanced Laser Processing and Inspection Technology”, and won the First Prize in the Teaching Competition for Young Teachers and the Second Prize of Graduate Teaching Achievement Award at South University of Science and Technology. He also manages a Guangdong Province Graduate Teaching Reform Project and a SUSTech Graduate Teaching Reform Project.
