Lei Jin
Research Associate Professor

Dr. Lei Jin is a Research Associate Professor (Associate Researcher) in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). He is a recipient of the Ministry of Education's Overseas Talent Program and the Guangdong Province Pearl River Young Top-notch Talent. She also serves as the Project Manager of the International Organization for Chemical Sciences in Development (IOCD) under the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), was named among the inaugural cohort of 2025 IEEE Nanotechnology Council Young Professional Ambassadors worldwide, a Youth Editorial Board Member of Materials Futures, a member of the Nano-Photovoltaic Display Sub-Technical Committee of the National Nanotechnology Standardization Committee, and a part-time Editor for Elsevier.

 

Her research has long focused on the design, controlled synthesis, and mechanistic study of colloidal nanocrystals, as well as their applications in optoelectronic conversion. She has received the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad, the INRS Outstanding Student Leadership Award, and a Certificate of Appreciation for Student Leaders from the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China. She has independently led and successfully concluded a FRQNT Postdoctoral Fellowship (Canada), the Young Scientists Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation Fund, the China Postdoctoral International Exchange Program (Dispatch), the Shenzhen Natural Science Foundation General Program, the Shenzhen Basic Research Special Program (Natural Science Foundation) Key Basic Research Project (as project lead), and the Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao C-type project. In recent years, he has published 67 papers in renowned international journals such as Adv. Mater., Adv. Energy Mater., and Adv. Funct. Mater., with total citations exceeding 2,350 and an H-index of 25 (Google Scholar).

Research Areas

Her research focuses on the synthetic design of photoluminescent/electroluminescent quantum dots and the development of optoelectronic conversion devices. Key research directions include:

Photocatalytic technologies for green energy production (e.g., photo-induced hydrogen production for efficient energy conversion and storage);

Luminescent solar concentrators (LSC) and luminescent glass;

Quantum-dot light-emitting diodes (QLED);

Third-generation emerging solar cells, such as colloidal quantum dot solar cells and perovskite thin-film solar cells.
