Biography
Dr. Jiahao Peng is currently a Research Assistant Professor at Department of Ocean Science and Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). He earned Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering (Structures) (Honours Class I) and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Sydney, Australia in December 2017 and May 2022, respectively. During his studies, he received the University of Sydney International Scholarship, a highly competitive scholarship to support outstanding international research students, and his thesis research project was recognized with the John Main 1st prize from the School of Civil Engineering. Dr. Peng then joined in SUSTech as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in September 2022 and later became a Research Assistant Professor in December 2024. His research interests include modular construction, steel-concrete composite structures, sustainable marine structures, etc. He has published over ten journal articles and presented at several international conferences to share his findings on innovative structures. He was honoured with the Engineering Structures Editor’s Featured Paper Award (Volume 324) for his contributions. His research is dedicated to developing fast-built, more cost-effective, and reusable structural systems, promoting the principles of sustainability in urban development.
