Biography

Dr. Wang Yuze is a currently an Associate professor and Ph.D. supervisor at the Department of Ocean Science and Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology. She obtained her Ph.D. in engineering from the University of Cambridge in 2019 and worked as a postdoctoral research associate at Durham University from 2019 to 2020. Her current research activities are ocean engineering, including seabed stabilization, marine bio-geotechnics for ocean negative emission and marine energy geotechnics with focuses on multi-phases reactive fluid transport behavior in porous media and the utilization of innovative techniques like Microbial-Induced Carbonate Precipitation. She has published about 40 papers in esteemed journals including Géotechnique, ASCE JGGE, Engineering Geology, Geotextiles and Geomembranes, as well as conference proceedings such as ISCMGE and ICEG. She is a holder of several research found such as general research grant of National Natural Science Foundation, general research grant of Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Committee etc. In 2021, she obtained the “NSFC Outstanding Overseas Youth Fund” of National Natural Science Foundation of China. In addition, her paper " Effects of Bacterial Density on Growth Rate and Characteristics of Microbial-Induced CaCO3 Precipitates" published in ASCE JGGE was selected as Editor's Choice paper. In 2023, she was selected by the world's premier geotechnics journal Géotechnique to be given an award “75th Géotechnique Anniversary Early Career Award (insightful paper on Bio-assisted geotechnics published in the decade 2013-2023)” for the paper “A microfluidic chip and its use in characterizing the particle-scale behaviour of microbial-induced calcium carbonate precipitation”.

We specialize in multi-scale multi-phase coupling methodologies within the fields of geotechnical engineering, energy engineering, and environmental engineering.
