Liu Yang was born in Sichuan in 1986. He completed his undergraduate study in Physics at Beijing Normal University. From 2011 to 2016, he was a PhD student in Condensed Matter Physics at Beijing Normal University. He has conducted numerical research of strongly correlated electronic systems, teaching physics courses. In the fall semester of 2018, he entered the Humanities Science Center of Southern University of Science and Technology, where he has been engaged in academic writing,creative writing and science fiction related teaching and research.

 

Liu Yang began to create and publish science fiction in 2012. He has published more than 600,000 words of Chinese science fiction in “Science Fiction World,” “ZUI Found,” and “New Science Fiction.” His works have been repeatedly featured in “Beijing Literature” and “Fiction Monthly.” Some works have been translated into English and published in “Clarksworld,” “Pathlight,” and other magazines. At present, he has published the short story collection “Perfect Doomsday,” “Hive,” and the long science fiction “The Orphans of Red Planet.” In addition, he has written and published a science fiction column on the “Non-Exist Daily” as well as a series of science fiction essays.

 

His writing has won the first prize of the 4th China Science Fiction “Light Year Award,” the 9th Global Chinese Science Fiction Nebula Award for Best Novella, was in the top five science fiction books for the 2018 Jingdong Literature Award for Science and Technology, won the "Star River Award,” and the 8th Global Chinese Science Fiction Nebula Award for Science Fiction Movies and Creative Awards.
